"Loteria" game helps raising bilingual kidspad
Excerpts from: Hispanic Magazine

Trying to raise a child bilingually in a monolingual culture may offer more challenges than rewards during your child's youth, but experts recommend sticking to your resolve and your child will thank you as an adult.

The best tool for giving your child a strong bilingual foundation is for at least one parent to speak only in Spanish to the child from birth, experts say.

Other strategies include enrolling the child in a bilingual school, hiring a Spanish-speaking baby sitter, starting a Spanish-speaking play groups, games, songs, television shows, and movies may also help reinforce the Spanish language and culture.

Some Bilingual Resources

Experts recommend the following tools for reinforcing a child's understanding of the Spanish language and culture:

-Playing games, such as the Mexican loteria.

-Television shows, such as Plaza Sesamo and Novelas.

-Music in Spanish.

-Books and tapes with songs and games, such as "De Colores", and Other Lain-American Folk Songs for Children; and "Antologia de la Lirica Infantil Mexicana"
